Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs and head of the Egyptian delegation participating in the Summit of Presidents of the African Union, called for amending the current composition of the African Peace and Security Council to be more representative of the North African region.

Shoukry said in a speech on Sunday: "It is unacceptable that we demand adherence to the principles of fair representation in the UN Security Council, while our council lacks this concept."

It is worth noting that the 36th ordinary session of the African Union Conference will discuss various continental issues that focus on the issue of "accelerating the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area" during the next two days.

The leaders will discuss various continental issues, including combating climate change, overcoming food security challenges, and ways to accelerate the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area. They are also expected to adopt a series of protocols aimed at accelerating the full implementation of the new free trade area on the continent.
