Dr. Hani Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, confirmed that the international initiative for adaptation in the water sector, AWARe, received great support from various governments and international organizations during the climate conference.
He said that this support must be built upon; To start moving forward towards taking the necessary measures to activate this initiative on the ground.
This came during a meeting held by the Minister of Irrigation. To discuss procedures for activating the items of the AWARe initiative in the water sector, which Egypt officially launched during the "Water Day" at the COP27 climate conference.
The AWARe initiative aims to enhance political efforts and operational procedures, exchange knowledge, and develop field capabilities. To place water management systems at the heart of climate change adaptation work.
