Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, met with Gillian Keegan, Minister of African Affairs in the United Kingdom, and Gareth Bayley, British Ambassador to Cairo, and their accompanying delegation, to discuss the Egyptian experience and measures taken by the Egyptian electricity sector to reduce emissions.


This meeting is part of the preparations for the COP27 Conference of Parties, which will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh in November 2022, and will focus on ways to support and enhance cooperation between British companies and the Egyptian electricity and renewable energy sectors, as well as increasing investment opportunities in Egypt.


Dr. Shaker began the conference by praising Egypt and Britain's remarkable connections in many different elements of collaboration in numerous disciplines of energy.


He also lauded the beneficial and constructive collaboration with a number of British firms in the sector's initiatives in Egypt, expressing a desire to expand the scope of this collaboration.
