The official spokesman for the Egyptian Armed Forces, Colonel Arkan Harb Gharib Abdel Hafez, announced, on Wednesday, that the forces "continue their efforts in the field of removing the remnants of World War II in the Western Desert," which represents 22 percent of Egypt's total area.

Colonel Ghareeb Abdel Hafez explained that the Egyptian Armed Forces "have been able to remove more than 25 million mines, explosive devices and ammunition over the past years, which has contributed to the implementation of a number of various urban and development projects in the areas from which these remnants have been removed, which have benefited the Egyptian state."
