Under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi,
President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, 60 days before the COP27 climate
summit, the second edition of the Egyptian Forum for International Cooperation
and Development Finance Egypt-ICF2022 and the meeting of African Ministers of
Finance, Economy and Environment, in the new administrative capital, will begin
from September 7-9. The Forum is organized by the Ministry of International
Cooperation, in partnership with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance and
Environment, and in cooperation with the United Nations Economic Commission for
Africa.
Dr Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation,
said that the second edition of the Egyptian Forum for International
Cooperation and Development Finance was of particular importance, launching
ahead of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on
Climate Change (COP27), which included a meeting of African Ministers of Economy,
Finance and Environment to discuss the consolidation of messages and insights
to mobilize the international community's efforts to support the climate agenda.
She explained that the Forum discusses several pressing
development themes and issues at this time, including stimulating innovative
and mixed financing mechanisms to finance climate change adaptation projects
and increasing the base of private sector participation in development, and
moving forward towards food security to ensure a better future for the
continent's countries.
The Minister of International Cooperation added that the
forum will also highlight Egypt's national efforts to achieve development that
is closely linked to climate action, through the implementation of green
projects, focus on what has recently been implemented in various development
sectors, and showcase Egypt's preparations for the climate summit, including
the launch of the National Investment Platform for Green Projects and Climate
Action “NWFE ".
It is a national programme and regional approach to linking
international climate and development issues while mobilizing concessional
development financing for a package of priority green development projects in
the food, water and energy sectors within the framework of Egypt's
Comprehensive National Climate Strategy 2050.
In its second edition, the events of the Egyptian Forum for
International Cooperation and Financing for Development range from panel
discussions, workshops, round tables and training events, in which relevant
parties participate to stimulate development efforts and climate action.
