Dr. Mohammed Shakir, Minister of Electricity and Renewable
Energy, received Mu 'taz Qandeel, Regional Director for the Middle East and
North Africa for FFI Australia and his entourage to explore ways to support and
strengthen cooperation between the company and Egypt's renewable energy sector
and increase investment opportunities on Egypt land in the areas of green
hydrogen and green ammonia.
Dr. Shakir praised the outstanding political relations
between Egypt and Australia and welcomed the cooperation with Australian
companies in electricity projects.
Shakir stressed that this meeting reflects the Ministry's
desire to strengthen cooperation between Egypt and Australia in the coming
period and to take advantage of the evolving expertise of Australian companies
in the field of renewable energies
He also referred to the State's strategy to increase the
contribution of renewable energy to the electricity mix, and the attention paid
by the electricity and renewable energy sector to diversify the sources of
electricity production and benefit from Egypt's natural wealth, in particular
new and renewable sources of energy, which aims to bring the contribution of
renewable energy to the energy mix in Egypt to 42% by 2035.
