An Egyptian-Canadian partnership to enhance women's employment opportunities in agricultural manufacturing

The Chamber of Food Industries in the Federation of Egyptian Industries signed a joint cooperation protocol with the Canadian project to implement the project to enhance women's opportunities in agricultural manufacturing, which is funded by the Canadian government and is implemented in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry and the National Council for Women.


The protocol signing ceremony took place in the presence of the Canadian Minister of International Cooperation, Deputy Minister and Canadian Ambassador in Cairo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Food Industries, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of the Chamber, Director of External Relations at the National Council for Women and Project Manager.


Ashraf Al-Jazairly, Chairman of the Chamber's Board of Directors, stressed the existence of many productive capacities and opportunities available to women in Upper Egypt, and the need to work to support and provide possibilities for entrepreneurship and the appropriate environment to empower women economically.


Rana Jamali, Vice Chairman of the Chamber's Board of Directors, added that the project aims to improve the economic situation of women in the agricultural manufacturing sector in the governorates of Beni Suef and Minya, in accordance with Egypt's Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Women Empowerment 2030, by working on 3 main axes, namely, promoting Women’s entrepreneurship, more equitable economic ownership and economic empowerment in the field of environmentally sustainable agricultural manufacturing, and improving the legislative environment that supports women’s work through the adoption of policies and practices within the workplace and the availability of an enabling and encouraging environment for women’s work in the food and agricultural sector.
