The 11th International Conference on Oncology was held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at the Marriott Mena House Hotel, with a mixture of heritage and modernity.

Dr. Hisham Al-Ghazali, Professor of Oncology, Secretary General of the Conference, President of the International Society of Oncology and Head of Ain Shams Medical Research Center, explained, “The use of immunotherapy and the combination of immunotherapy and targeted therapy in liver tumors in the early stages before or after surgeries, and the announcement of a joint scientific protocol between Ain Shams Medical Research Center and Liver Tumors Unit at MD Anderson Institute in the United States of America. For the first time, the reasons for the increased incidence of colon tumors in young patients and how to avoid and treat this are announced, and to study this phenomenon in eastern and western societies.

For his part, Dr. Mahmoud El-Matini, President of Ain Shams University, stated, "The settlement of the pharmaceutical industry in Egypt is in response to the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the decision to establish the City of Medicine and the decision to establish the Unified Procurement Authority."

He stressed, "We are the main source for exporting Egyptian medicine to Arab and African countries and to Eastern Europe at very competitive prices and with a quality and efficiency comparable to international medicines."

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Hadi, a lecturer of oncology at the Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura, discussed in a research paper, "How to choose the best drug, and start the drug that gives a longer and better control period for the tumor for each patient, and the necessity of arranging the selection of drugs according to each patient's case."

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Yassin Mustafa discussed in his research paper “general recommendations and guidelines for treating liver tumors.” These recommendations include oncologists, pathologists, and surgeons, as well as interventional radiology doctors; To discuss the collective decision, which will consist of a joint committee that will come up with recommendations for how to treat liver tumors, especially in Egypt, and this is in line with the state’s strategy with its pioneering program.

Dr. Mohamed also praised Egypt's role in providing treatments for liver tumors, and the need to employ the appropriate treatment for each patient through these recommendations and guidelines that will be discussed at the conference.
