On 28th June 2022, EMPC and UNESCO Cairo Office celebrate Egypt’s achievement on the
restoration of over 3000 audio-visual content that would provide access to
present and future generation the knowledge of modern Egyptian heritage.
The cinema in Egypt has a rich heritage dating
back to November 5 1896, when the first short films of The Lumière brothers
were shown in Alexandria. Since then, Egypt remained as pioneer in
cinematography in the region, with thousands of films that dealt with all the
aspects of life in Egypt and the world.
