Peacebuilding Minister Stephen Bar Cole visited the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding.
The Director of the Cairo Institute expressed his aspiration to continue cooperation with the State of South Sudan within the framework of the third edition of the Aswan Forum for Peace and Development.
The Minister of Peacebuilding expressed his appreciation for the activities of the Center and the Aswan Forum, indicating his desire to benefit from the expertise of the Center to train cadres of his Ministry on peacebuilding issues, especially mediation, conflict analysis and crisis management, in addition to the Center’s support for the development of peacebuilding policies in South Sudan. The Minister also expressed interest in cooperation in the field of disarmament and reintegration as a pivotal tool for sustaining peace in South Sudan.
The two sides agreed to take the necessary steps to move from the stage of cooperation to the long-term partnership between the Cairo International Center and the Ministry of Peacebuilding in South Sudan.
