The Suez Canal Authority announces that an agreement to release the giant container ship Ever Given, which was seized by the Egyptian authorities after the end of March disrupted navigation in the canal after it ran aground.
A statement by the authority stated that an agreement was reached with the ship owner, pointing out that a ceremony will be held on Wednesday to sign the agreement and leave the ship.
ship Ever Given, with a length of 400 meters and a total tonnage of 224,000 tons, veered off course amid strong sandy winds that hit Egypt and part of the Middle East. The ship, 59 meters wide and 60 meters high, flying the Panamanian flag but operated by a Taiwanese company, was stuck in the canal, which at that time halted navigation between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea in both directions.
