Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, announced the provision of health and awareness services to 313,105 women as part of a service and awareness campaign for family development in the villages included in the national project for the development of Egyptian rural villages within the initiative of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi “a decent life”, in 9 governorates, over ten days, which included spreading awareness and providing reproductive health services.
Mujahid indicated that 258,648 women received free family planning methods, and that 10 reproductive health convoys are being launched in 7 other governorates, including "Fayoum, Minya, Assiut, Qena, Luxor, Damietta, and Dakahlia", with a total of 30 villages within The national project for the development of Egyptian rural villages “a decent life”.
For his part, Dr. Hossam Abbas, head of the family planning sector, explained that within the framework of developing family planning services, the family planning services program after childbirth and after abortions was implemented in 13 governorates, including Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Fayoum, Beni Suef, and Minya. Assiut, Sohag, Qalyubia, Sharkia, Gharbia, Damietta, and Beheira, and the implementation of the program will be completed at the level of the governorates of the Republic by the end of 2021.
He pointed out that work is underway to expand family planning clinics in university hospitals, through the implementation of the cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Health and Population and the Ministry of Higher Education, where a family planning clinic was opened at Aswan University Hospital and follow-up to the family planning clinic at Assiut University Hospital.
