Israeli air attack on southern Lebanon

12/25/2023

Today, Monday, Israeli warplanes launched a series of raids on areas in southern Lebanon. The raids targeted the village of Aita al-Shaab on the Lebanese-Palestinian border, while the Israeli army announced the launch of an anti-tank missile from Lebanon towards the Israeli settlements on the border.

Israeli media reported that missiles were fired from southern Lebanon towards the Doviv and Matat settlements in the Upper Galilee, without any human casualties or damage or loss of property reported.

Hezbollah mourned one of its members, Wissam Khalil Hammoud from the southern town of Markaba, as a martyr.

The exchange of fire and shelling between Hezbollah and the Israeli army comes at a time when the Israeli authorities and the municipality of Kiryat Shmona announced the closure of major roads and axes in the Upper Galilee and the border areas, in anticipation of Hezbollah launching rocket shells.

Since the early hours of this morning, the Israeli police have closed several streets and crossroads in the Upper Galilee. The entrances to Kiryat Shmona from the northern side have also been closed, and the entry gates to many settlements and kibbutzim in the Upper Galilee have been closed until further notice.
