Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, held a meeting yesterday evening; To review a proposal submitted by a Chinese company to utilize the water left over from seawater desalination projects to extract minerals.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Assem Al-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Dr. Hani Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and Liu Ai-min, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TEDA Africa and TEDA Egypt Investment Company. Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing for Infrastructure Affairs, Major General Essam Galal, Vice President of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority for the New Delta Project, Dr. Ibrahim Abdel Khaleq, Vice President of the Suez Canal Economic Authority for Investment and Promotion Affairs, and Major General Tamer Zaher, Director of the Water Department of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority. Armed Forces, Major General Khaled Salah, Director of the Engineering Department of the Egypt Future Authority, Major General Ihab Khader, Chairman of the National Authority for Drinking Water and Wastewater, Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, Chairman of the Holding Company for Potable Water and Wastewater, and officials of the ministries and concerned authorities.

   The meeting witnessed a review of a number of available seawater desalination plants that can be used to implement this project. In this regard, the components of these plants, the quantities of residual water expected from seawater desalination, the aspects of benefiting from the quantities of water resulting from desalination, and the expected economic returns were explained. After implementing this proposal.

  At the conclusion of the meeting, the Prime Minister directed that a meeting be held in the coming days with company officials to discuss the details of this proposed project and explain the details of the technology used.
