The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, took the constitutional oath before the Kuwaiti National Assembly, this Wednesday morning, in the presence of the government headed by Sheikh Ahmed Nawaf in a special session to officially assume power, in accordance with Article 60 of the Kuwaiti Constitution, which stipulates that the Emir must take the oath before the Assembly to do so. The 17th ruler in the history of Kuwait after the constitution was drawn up in 1962.

The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, is the 17th ruler of the State of Kuwait in accordance with the constitution and the emirate’s inheritance law, succeeding the late Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah had previously taken the constitutional oath before the Kuwaiti National Assembly on October 8, 2020, on the occasion of his appointment as Crown Prince of Kuwait, and the National Assembly unanimously approved his appointment as Crown Prince.
