The Secretary-General of the National Council for Human Rights, Ambassador Fahmi Fayed, said that a delegation from the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions met today, Wednesday, with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit. To discuss coordination of Arab efforts to support the Palestinian cause and implement the directives of Arab leaders in this field amid the attacks and human rights violations witnessed by the Gaza Strip by the Israeli occupation forces.
Ambassador Fahmy stressed the right of the Palestinian people to their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The meeting also condemned the forms of violence, violations and aggression practiced by Israeli forces against innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip, with the need to adhere to human rights standards without discrimination or duplication in implementing those standards.
