The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities continues the promotional campaign launched on its websites and various social media platforms under the title "Learn a treasure in your governorate," in order to highlight the most important and distinguished places and artefacts discovered within each of Egypt's governorates as part of the Ministry's celebrations during this year. This month celebrates the 200th anniversary of ancient Egyptian text decipherment and the birth of Egyptology.

Hibis Temple

1 - The Temple of Hibis is located north of the Kharga Oasis

2 - It was dedicated to the worship of the god Amun, and was surrounded by a lake, but it disappeared over time.

3 - The foundations of the temple go back to the 25th dynasty

4 - The Persian King Darius and after him other kings decorated the walls of the temple, and the most important of these inscriptions was the scene of the struggle of the god Seth with the serpent Apophis, a symbol of chaos.
