Today, Monday, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received Amy Pope, Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, as part of the UN official’s visit to Egypt during the period from April 21 to 23.
Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman and Director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shukri, expressed during the meeting his appreciation for the fruitful and extended cooperation relations with the organization and the aspiration to strengthen them to ensure comprehensive management of migration in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable development in accordance with the principles and goals it contains. The International Covenant on Migration, stressing the importance of crystallizing the organization’s work priorities in consultation with the governments of developing countries that bear significant burdens in migration governance.
