Egypt expresses deep concern about the continuing phenomena of racism, discrimination and xenophobia

The third session of the Permanent Forum for People of African Descent, held in Geneva under the title “The Second International Decade for People of African Descent: Addressing Systemic Racism, Reparative Justice and Sustainable Development,” was opened with broad participation from member states and non-governmental organizations working in the field of the rights of people of African descent.

The statement indicated that despite the positive steps achieved over the past years to combat racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and other forms of intolerance, Egypt expresses deep concern about the continuation of these phenomena in their multiple forms, represented by discrimination and hatred on the basis of religion, race, color, etc. This is based on the escalation of the phenomenon of systematic racism in recent years against people of African descent, Arabs, Muslims, immigrants and asylum seekers, in light of the continued policies and practices of racial profiling in a manner inconsistent with the values of democracy, equality and respect for others, in addition to its violation of the relevant rules of international law. .
