Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, said that Cairo is hosting an Egyptian-European summit today, Sunday, that will witness the elevation of relations between Egypt and the European Union to the level of a “strategic and comprehensive partnership,” with the aim of achieving a qualitative leap in cooperation and coordination between the two sides, in order to achieve common interests.
The President is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Egypt’s European leaders, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations. A summit meeting will also be held to discuss developing relations between Egypt and the European Union and its member states in various fields, most notably political relations, combating terrorism, and economic cooperation. The issues of energy, industry, technology, education, and immigration. The summit will also discuss the regional situation, especially the war in the Gaza Strip, and how to restore security and stability in the region, and avoid the repercussions of the current tensions on international peace.
