During his speech on the eve of the ordination (appointment) and seating of a number of bishops in the St. Mark’s Cathedral in Abbasiya, today, Saturday, Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Mark, thanked President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for congratulating the Egyptian people on the occasion of the approaching month of Ramadan and Lent.
“We thank President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who offered congratulations to the people of Egypt, to our Muslim brothers on the occasion of the month of Ramadan, and to Christians on the occasion of Great Lent, in his speech today.”
This came against the backdrop of what President Sisi said during his speech today at the Armed Forces educational symposium on the occasion of Martyr’s Day, today, as he offered congratulations to Egyptian Muslims and Christians on the approaching month of Ramadan and Great Lent, as the beginnings of the two fasts coincide this year, next Monday, March 11.
