Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry reiterated the important role played by UNRWA in providing vital services to Palestinian refugees, and the essential role in providing shelter and aid to the residents of Gaza, stressing the need for international donors, including New Zealand, to continue providing the necessary support to the agency, and refraining from adopting Decisions to suspend funding in the midst of the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which may appear as collective punishment against all the agency’s employees as well as the Palestinian people, and awaiting the results of the internal investigation process undertaken by the agency and its agencies.
