Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria, Patriarch of the See of Mark, said: The visit of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to us on Christmas Eve is a beautiful tradition whose influence remains on all Egyptians, not only Christians, as the President congratulates Egyptians on the occasion of the beginning of the New Year and Christmas.

This came during Pope Tawadros’ reception of Christmas well-wishers at the papal headquarters in St. Mark’s Cathedral in Abbasiya on Sunday.

Pope Tawadros spoke about the opening of the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in the New Administrative Capital on Christ’s Day in 2019.

Pope Tawadros praised that day, when the cathedral and Al-Fattah Al-Aleem Mosque were opened in the presence of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Republic, the Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, and a group of state officials.
