10/19/2026

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, has called on Arab and Islamic countries to prioritize dialogue and wisdom and to immediately and comprehensively halt wars and conflicts threatening regional security, draining national resources, and claiming innocent lives.

In a statement, Al-Azhar stressed the importance of Arab and Islamic unity, resolving disputes peacefully, protecting civilian lives, and preserving the resources of nations. It warned that division and ongoing conflicts weaken the region and threaten its stability.

Al-Azhar also called for the urgent formation of a mediation and de-escalation committee comprising representatives and respected figures from Arab and Islamic countries. The committee would work to contain crises, bridge differences, and resolve ongoing disputes while safeguarding national sovereignty and the resources of future generations.

Al-Azhar affirmed its readiness to support the committee’s efforts, expressing confidence in the ability of all parties to overcome their differences and prioritize the common good to achieve peace and stability across the region.
