Cairo is gearing up to host "Space Apps Cairo" for the twelfth consecutive year on November 13 and 14, 2026, at Innovation University. This follows Egypt’s achievement of two consecutive global victories in the world’s largest annual hackathon.

Over the course of 48 hours, the event will bring together thousands of students, graduates, researchers, programmers, designers, and innovators to develop solutions for challenges related to Earth, space, and science, utilizing NASA’s open data.

Launched by the agency in 2012, the NASA Space Apps Challenge is the world’s largest annual hackathon, inviting innovators in cities across the globe to leverage NASA data to address challenges facing Earth and space. "Space Apps Cairo" represents the local edition of this challenge, an event in which the capital has participated since 2015.
