The Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) has released a new report titled "Sustainable Food Industries." The report reviews the current state of Egypt's food industry sector and its role in supporting food security and economic growth. It also highlights state efforts to reduce food loss and waste, develop supply chains, and foster a transition toward more efficient and sustainable production models.

A Strategic Economic Sector

The report identifies the food industry as a strategic productive sector within the Egyptian economy, given its close ties to agriculture, supply chains, logistics, and trade. It also underscores the sector's role in creating jobs, boosting exports, and maximizing the economic value of agricultural products.

The sector encompasses a wide range of key industries, including dairy and dairy products, sugar and sugar-based products, frozen vegetables and strawberries, processed fruit and vegetable products, as well as oils, aromatic resins, and their derivatives.
