The Supreme Council for Media Regulation has sent official letters to the legal representatives of several channels, requesting their presence at the Council's headquarters at the beginning of next week. They will be required to submit copies of contracts for a number of programs for review. The Council will assess the contracts' compliance with applicable legal and regulatory standards and take necessary action if any violations are detected, thus contributing to the regulation of the media production sector.
This action is part of the Council's ongoing monitoring, under the leadership of Engineer Khaled Abdel Aziz, of satellite channels' adherence to regulations governing co-production programs. It follows initial reports from the Council's General Monitoring Department, which identified 21 such programs broadcast across six satellite channels.
This initiative is part of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation's efforts to combat the phenomenon of "selling airtime," monitor media institutions' compliance with the law and regulations governing media work, promote transparency and professional commitment, maintain the professional standards of program presenters, and solidify sound media practices.
