In light of Cabinet Decision No. 4330 of 2025 regarding the issuance of regulations governing foreign filming within the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Board of Trustees of the "Egypt Film Commission" held its first meeting, chaired by Abdel Fattah Al-Jabali, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Media Production City, with the participation of representatives from several relevant ministries and bodies. At the outset of the meeting, El-Gebaly reviewed the Prime Minister's decision assigning the Egyptian Film Commission, based at Media Production City, the responsibility for coordinating all necessary approvals from relevant authorities for foreign filming projects within the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Commission is the sole entity authorized to handle this matter. The decision also outlines the establishment of the fundamental framework and general strategy for foreign filming operations in Egypt, in accordance with the Prime Minister's directives and the President's instructions on this issue.
During the meeting, the Board approved the formation of an executive committee tasked with all executive and coordination-related tasks pertaining to foreign filming.
The Board of Trustees emphasized the pivotal role of the Egyptian Film Commission in attracting international production companies to film in the Arab Republic of Egypt. This is achieved by providing all necessary facilities and logistical services, as well as issuing the required permits for these companies' delegations, through a one-stop-shop system that facilitates the completion of all procedures without any obstacles or difficulties. This is accomplished by establishing frameworks for bilateral cooperation with all relevant ministries and authorities involved in foreign filming. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Council directed that all efforts be combined to enable the committee to fully accomplish its tasks. This includes establishing frameworks for cooperation between the various ministries and relevant entities participating in the Council to ensure the success of the state's efforts to attract investment in foreign film production projects and to position Egypt on the global film map as one of the most important international filming locations, given its unique tourist attractions and archaeological sites that make it one of the world's leading tourist destinations.
