Ambassador Ragi El-Etreby, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Japan, met with a delegation from the Japanese House of Councillors' Official Development Assistance Committee (ODA) at a luncheon held at the Japanese Parliament building after the Japanese parliamentarians' visit to Egypt in January. During their visit, they inspected several Japanese development cooperation projects, most notably the Grand Egyptian Museum, Egyptian-Japanese schools, the Early Childhood Center, and the Cairo Metro project. They also held a series of fruitful meetings with the House of Councillors and several relevant Egyptian ministries to discuss frameworks and updates on related cooperation. The Japanese delegation commended the depth of the existing development cooperation with Egypt and the added value of its projects and programs, particularly in the infrastructure, education, and cultural cooperation sectors. They expressed their satisfaction with the progress achieved by the Egyptian-Japanese Schools project in disseminating the Japanese Tokkatsu education system, as well as the high level attained by Egyptian students in these schools.
They also expressed their pride in Japan's role in constructing the Grand Egyptian Museum, a global cultural and civilizational landmark, and noted the significant influx of tourists from around the world visiting the museum.
