The Tahya Misr Fund has signed a cooperation protocol with a major bank to support the "Their Hearts Are Our Responsibility" (Qulubuhum Mas'uliyatuna) initiative. The protocol aims to provide transcatheter pulmonary valves for critically ill children with heart conditions at Ain Shams University hospitals. This initiative is part of the Egyptian state’s broader efforts to strengthen the healthcare system and provide medical treatment to the most vulnerable groups.
Tamer Abdel Fattah, Executive Director of the Tahya Misr Fund, explained that the transcatheter implantation of a pulmonary valve is a modern medical technique that allows for treatment without the need for open-heart surgery. He noted that this procedure is intended for children suffering from severe pulmonary valve stenosis or regurgitation—conditions that may arise from congenital defects or as complications following surgeries to correct such defects.
