The activities of the 9th Cairo
Water Week commenced this Sunday morning, running from October 25 to 29 under
the theme 'Water as a Catalyst for Peace, Shared Prosperity, and a Sustainable
Planet.' Held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and in the
presence of Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, the opening was attended by a
wide range of ministers, governors, and ambassadors. This year's event features
extensive international and regional participation, encompassing 137 technical
and scientific sessions alongside competitions. These are organized in
collaboration with major global organizations, including the FAO, the European
Union, UNESCO, GIZ, and the World Water Council. The week's program includes
several high-level sessions, most notably the final preparatory session for the
UN 2026 Water Conference, dedicated panels on green water and capacity building
in Africa and the Arab region, as well as the 6th International High-Level
Symposium on Water Security, held in cooperation with China and the World Water
Council.
