Egypt and the Democratic Republic of Congo share historical ties dating back to the 1960s. Egypt plays an active role in supporting security and political stability in the Democratic Republic of Congo through its participation in the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the country (MONUSCO), as well as through its efforts as a member of the United Nations, the UN Security Council, and the African Union Peace and Security Council.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will receive his brother, President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo, today, Wednesday, as part of the Congolese President's bilateral visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The two presidents are scheduled to hold bilateral talks to discuss ways to strengthen relations between the two countries, in addition to consulting on international and regional issues of common interest.
