Dr. Asif emphasized that the military escalation between Iran and Israel constitutes a dangerous development that affects the course of negotiations. She maintained that Israel has always been an obstacle to diplomatic efforts, explaining that the escalation in Lebanon and the Iranian nuclear issue have remained among the most prominent topics on the negotiating table recently.
In an interview on Cairo News, she added that the diplomatic track remains open despite the current tensions. She pointed to the visit of the Pakistani Interior Minister to Tehran, where he delivered a message from the Pakistani leadership to the Iranian Supreme Leader, as part of Islamabad's efforts to contribute to containing the crisis and supporting de-escalation.
Asif noted the lack of confirmed information regarding the content of the message or the final results of the visit, but emphasized the existence of positive indicators reflecting the continuation of political and diplomatic contacts, despite the challenges posed by the rapidly escalating military developments in the region.
