Health Minister: Closing the "Red Zones" Chapter and a Declining Birth Rate by the End of 2025
6/2/2026

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, announced a major achievement in controlling population growth rates and improving demographic characteristics by the end of 2025, as the first fruits of the first phase of the "Urgent Population and Development Plan 2025-2027," implemented in partnership with the National Population Council. This clearly demonstrates the success of the Egyptian state in transforming the population file into a development path based on precise and planned targeting.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar explained that the results of the eighth edition of the composite population indicators revealed a positive redrawing of Egypt's population map, characterized by a clear reduction in the number of red zones (those most in need of intervention), reaching only 20 by the end of 2025, compared to 43 in the seventh edition and 74 in the sixth.
