The Egyptian flag was draped around the body of the late singer Hani Shaker in preparation for the funeral prayer at Abu Shaqqa Mosque in Sheikh Zayed City.
Hani Shaker was one of the most prominent singers who performed patriotic songs, and his most famous song was "Baladi Ya Baladi" (My Country, Oh My Country), which he sang with his friend, the singer Mohamed Tharwat.
Friends and fans flocked to Hani Shaker's funeral.
A large number of artists have been arriving since the morning, including singer Ehab Tawfik, actress Laila Elwi, Mervat Amin, Fifi Abdou, Sulaf Fawakherji, Mohamed Tharwat, Hisham Abbas, the head of the Musicians Syndicate Mustafa Kamel, Helmy Abdel Baqi, and media personalities Hala Sarhan, Lamis El Hadidi, Ahmed Moussa, and Sheikh Khaled El Gendy.
The funeral procession began this morning. The funeral of artist Hani Shaker will be held today, Wednesday, after the noon prayer at Abu Shaqqa Mosque in Sheikh Zayed City. He will be buried in the family cemetery on the Oasis Road in 6th of October City, following the arrival of his body last night from Paris, where he had been receiving his final medical treatment.
