Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, sent a congratulatory telegram to Counselor Hisham Badawi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. The telegram reads:

Mr. Counselor Hisham Badawi, Speaker of the House of Representatives,

On my own behalf and on behalf of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Egypt, I would like to extend my sincerest congratulations to Your Excellency and all members of your esteemed council on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. I pray to God that He will bless your sincere efforts to further elevate this venerable legislative institution during the third legislative term, and that He will grant you success in your endeavors for the benefit of the Egyptian people and the fulfillment of their aspirations.

May God protect and guide you.

Pope Tawadros II also sent a telegram to the Speaker of the Senate, Counselor Essam El-Din Farid, congratulating him and the members of the Senate on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. In his message, he prayed that God would grant them health and well-being, a fruitful legislative session, and success in achieving further progress for this venerable legislative institution, for the benefit of the nation and its citizens, thus fulfilling all national hopes and aspirations.
