The Board of Trustees of the Egypt Film Commission Holds its First Meeting, Chaired by the Head of Media Production City
1/21/2026

The Board of Trustees of the Egypt Film Commission, chaired by Abdel Fattah El-Gebaly, Chairman and Managing Director of Media Production City, will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, January 28th, with the participation of representatives from the Ministries of Tourism and Antiquities, Environment, Investment, Culture, Religious Endowments, Transport, Local Development, Civil Aviation, Foreign Affairs, and Agriculture, in addition to representatives from the State Information Service and members of the Security Coordination Committee.

The meeting will be attended by representatives from the Ministries of Tourism and Antiquities, Environment, Investment, Culture, Religious Endowments, Transport, Local Development, Civil Aviation, Foreign Affairs, and Agriculture. This comes in light of Prime Ministerial Decree No. 4330, issued on November 26, 2025, concerning the regulations governing foreign filming within the Arab Republic of Egypt. The decree stipulates that the Egyptian Film Committee, affiliated with Media Production City, is responsible for coordinating the necessary approvals from relevant authorities for foreign filming operations within the Arab Republic of Egypt. This committee is the sole entity authorized to handle such matters. The committee will have a Board of Trustees, chaired by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Media Production City Company, and including representatives from relevant ministries and agencies. This board will be responsible for establishing the fundamental frameworks and general strategy for foreign filming operations.

The regulations also stipulate the establishment of a single digital platform for foreign filming. The committee will manage, supervise, and develop this platform, and will handle all necessary approvals and permits. All foreign filming operations may be conducted exclusively through this platform. The committee is also responsible for promoting the Arab Republic of Egypt as an attractive destination for investment in foreign film production projects. This includes coordinating with relevant authorities to obtain script approvals and foreign filming permits, facilitating the entry and exit of filming equipment in coordination with the Customs Authority, monitoring the filming activities of foreign production companies, and addressing any obstacles they may encounter. Furthermore, the committee provides logistical support to facilitate the requirements of foreign filming, and collaborates with relevant ministries and state entities to provide all necessary equipment, services, and personnel. The committee also displays approved filming locations within the Arab Republic of Egypt on its digital platform. The regulations stipulate that various state entities must coordinate with the committee to facilitate the necessary procedures for foreign filming within the Arab Republic of Egypt.
