Ambassador Amr El-Sherbiny, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Affairs and International Security, participated in a high-level roundtable in Geneva, convened by the Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), entitled "African Migration at a Crossroads: From Cooperation to Solutions."
The meeting served as a platform for consultation and the exchange of views on mechanisms to enhance international and regional cooperation in support of safe, orderly, and regular migration, and explored ways to utilize migration as a tool to promote growth and development.
Ambassador Amr El-Sherbiny explained that Egypt adopts a comprehensive approach to migration, considering its role as a country of origin, transit, and destination, which necessitates achieving a delicate balance between security, development, and humanitarian dimensions. He pointed out that diplomatic, regional, and development efforts must complement national efforts to address the root causes of irregular migration and transnational organized crime.
