Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning Champions League title holders, inflicted the first defeat of the season on their visitors, Tottenham Hotspur, the Europa League champions, with a resounding 5-3 victory in a thrilling match on Wednesday evening, as part of the fifth round of the group stage.

The Parisian team repeated their victory over Tottenham, having previously defeated them on penalties after a 2-2 draw to claim the UEFA Super Cup title at the start of the season.

With this result, the reigning champions raise their points tally to 12, climbing to second place and strengthening their chances of qualifying directly for the Round of 16 as one of the top eight teams in the group, before their trip to face Athletic Bilbao in Spain on December 10th for the sixth round.
