Have you ever wondered why Egypt is called "Mother of the World"?
7/1/2025

"Egypt, Mother of the World" is a name that expresses Egypt's historical, religious, and cultural status. It is not merely a metaphorical or emotional term; it has roots in heritage, narratives, and the recognition of many historians and travelers.

Perhaps the name "Mother of the Country" is older and more closely linked to religious and historical texts than "Mother of the World," although the meaning is the same. Imam Sa'id ibn Abi Hilal al-Laythi (d. 135 AH, some say 149 AH) mentions that Egypt's name in earlier scriptures is "Mother of the Country."
