The National Seismic Monitoring Network, affiliated with the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics, stated that earthquakes are among the most powerful and violent natural disasters that the planet Earth is exposed to. This phenomenon is linked to the nature of the Earth and its internal composition.
Causes of Earthquakes and Tremors
The causes of earthquakes were explained as follows:
1- Human causes, resulting from explosions that occur in factories and quarries. These causes are easily controlled by the competent authorities.
2- Natural causes:
a- Volcanic eruptions accompanied by earthquakes, known as volcanic earthquakes.
b- Cracks and rock slides, known as tectonic earthquakes.
What to do when an earthquake occurs:
If you are in a building, stand under a doorway or under a sturdy table, away from windows and glass. When outside, stand away from buildings, trees, telephone lines, and power lines.
If you are in a vehicle, stay away from tunnels and bridges and do not get out of the vehicle.
Try to feel comfortable and do not panic. Try to help others and reduce their agitation, especially in children, to avoid developing psychological problems later on.
