Relations between Egypt and Greece go back a long way, as a result of their coexistence within the same strategic geographic area, their shared historical experience, and the presence of a large Greek community in Egypt for many years.

The two countries enjoy close cooperation at the multilateral level within international organizations and within the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, and at the bilateral level, in accordance with an agreement signed in 1998.
