The construction profession was and still is a very arduous and stressful profession, but it was characterized by several characteristics in ancient Egypt that made it even more difficult and arduous for the worker, due to the nature of the profession itself in this historical era.

This difficulty was represented by the size of the building materials and the locations where they were cut from the quarries and transported to the construction sites, which could sometimes be far away. It was also represented by the primitive nature of the tools used by the worker. Most construction work in ancient Egypt required the presence of very large numbers of workers in two groups at the same time and place, which could lead to numerous injuries and infections among the workers.
