Agence France-Presse quoted a Hamas leader as saying that a ceasefire is a necessity in the Gaza Strip, noting that communication with mediators continues without any new proposals being put forward in this regard, according to Cairo News.
The Hamas leader said, "This war cannot continue indefinitely. It is essential to reach a ceasefire."
He added that communication with mediators is continuing so far without any new proposals, after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Monday that he was working on a new "agreement" to release detainees held by the movement.
