In the presence of Ambassador Ashraf Sweilem, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director of the Department of African Organizations and Groups, Dr. Hanan Morsi, the Egyptian candidate for the post of Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, was received by Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, today, Monday, to provide an update on the status of her election campaign and the African tour she is undertaking to interact with the African Union's member states.
Dr. Morsi's candidacy falls within the framework of the Egyptian state's orientation to increase its presence in regional and international organizations and support qualified national competencies to assume leadership positions to confirm Egypt's commitment to supporting the African Union, achieving the goals of the African continent, and defending its interests, Minister Abdel Aati said, emphasizing the importance of the Egyptian role in supporting the issues of the African continent at all levels.
As for Dr. Hanan Morsi, she gave a recap of the most notable stops on her most recent African tour, which included numerous meetings with senior officials, ministers, and presidents of African Union member states.
