Sultan Ibrahim bin Sultan Iskandar, King of Malaysia, received at the Presidential Palace today, Thursday, His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders. The two sides stressed the importance of enhancing joint cooperation in consolidating the values of dialogue and human coexistence.
His Eminence the Grand Imam affirmed Al-Azhar’s readiness to increase the number of Al-Azhar envoys to Malaysia, increase scholarships for Malaysian children to attend Al-Azhar University, receive Malaysian imams and train them in the Al-Azhar International Academy for Training Imams and Preachers, and open the horizon of cooperation with Malaysia in a way that meets the needs of Malaysian society and suits its internal challenges.
