Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment, inaugurated the 24th Conference of the Parties to the Convention for the Protection of the Mediterranean Environment against Pollution (Barcelona Convention) on Tuesday in Cairo, with the participation of ministers and representatives from 21 Mediterranean countries, as well as a number of regional and international organizations.
Conference Theme and Objectives
This year's conference is being held under the theme "Sustainable Blue Economy for a Resilient and Healthy Mediterranean." It aims to strengthen regional cooperation to protect the marine and coastal environment and support joint efforts to address environmental challenges, primarily pollution, climate change, and biodiversity loss.
