Dr. Hani Swailem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, affirmed Egypt's readiness to be a regional center for the African continent in the field of capacity building in issues related to water and climate change.
This came during the signing of an agreement between the Ministry's regional training center with the "Barry" Institute for Agriculture Studies in the Mediterranean Basin; To implement the project "The Italian-Egyptian Water Training Program - Water Knowledge", which was presented as a grant from the Italian side with a value of 2.30 million euros, in the presence of the Minister of Irrigation.
Sweilem explained that the project aims to build capacities and raise the efficiency of workers in the water sector, and exchange experiences and knowledge to reach an integrated approach to water management, by strengthening infrastructure and technical, and improving the quality and efficiency of the training process at the Regional Training Center; To become a leading training agency in Egypt and Africa.
The Minister of Irrigation said that the project "The Italian-Egyptian Water Training Program - Water Knowledge" is one of the areas of cooperation with the Italian side in the field of water.
The agreement was signed by Eng. Tarek El-Sayed, Head of the Regional Training Center, and Biagio Terlizzi, Deputy Director of the Bari Institute for Studies of Agriculture in the Mediterranean.
