Egypt is currently in another round of negotiations to
purchase wheat supplies directly from the government, a system that, according
to the government, may ensure more enticing rates, ever since the crisis in
Ukraine interrupted grain markets.
Since cancelling a contract in the middle of July, Egypt has not advertised any international purchase tenders, choosing instead to purchase roughly 1.5 million tons of wheat through direct private negotiations with foreign firms.
