Ambassador Karim Sharif, Ambassador of Egypt in Copenhagen, met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Global Climate Foundation “Jans Nielsen” to discuss ways to enhance cooperation during the Conference of the Parties in November 2022, In preparation for the Danish participation in the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27).
In this context, Nielsen reviewed the efforts undertaken by the Corporation in the field of coordination between governments, companies, organizations and international financial institutions to enhance the process of green transformation and coordinate partnerships in the field of emissions reduction and financing sustainable solutions, while presenting the efforts and meetings organized by the Corporation during the COP26 conference in Glasgow last year. As well as the existing cooperation with global and Danish climate and green economy, institutions and companies, and its vision for the upcoming Danish participation in the Conference of Parties and possible contributions in this framework.
For his part, the Egyptian ambassador welcomed this initiative to cooperate in the existing preparations for the Conference of Parties, and its coincidence with the recent visit of the Danish Minister for Climate Change and Energy to Egypt last week, and what was agreed upon to enhance the Danish role in the issues of climate finance and adaptation to climate change, among others, with the aim of making the COP27 conference a success and implementing the pledges. Commitments in the field of climate, and to benefit from the Danish experiences in the field of transition towards green energy.
